Inspiration

I played many text adventure game, or interactive fiction before, some of them are Japanese GAL (girls and love).


The two GAL affect this project the most are “Bishoujo Mangekyou 5: girl of rule and maze" and "Senrenbanka".










Both of them are interactive stories focus on love and Japanese supernatural culture. Player understand the chracters and solve the mysteries in these games, even the stories are not complex, interesting interactive between characters will attract player's attention.


Senrenbanka gave me the idea that I need to spread imformations into different character's story lines, attract players to experience different story lines and get the whole picture of story at the end.


Another interactive fiction gave me inspiration is "Raging Loop". It's more focus on the logic game of realistic Werewolf, and solve the mystery about the village's history and looping.

This game gave me the most inspiration, I used its looping system as reference. The most important thing this game told me is that supernatural ability can be mixed with man-made conspiracy. Player can speculate the supernatural side of story once the game shows enough imformations.


The male lead of "Raging Loop" spends lots of time on studying history and religion culture of the village, this becomes his material to solve the whole case. So I also put some supernatual setting into my story as part of the key informations, force players to step out from the common sense, to think the story from different directions.


The last two series of games I am going to mention here are "Danganronpa" and "Ace Attorney".

They also involve some supernatural setting in the game, but the modus operandi and inferencing are still brilliant.


In my project, there are no branchs in Lydia's line and Ada's final line. As a result, I am going to add some options that can only slightly affect the story in the short term. For example, Mervin will be laughed if player choose a stupid answer for the question. This form always appears in Danganronpa and Ace Attorney, it makes players think they have choices, but they can only follow the single story lines. Sometimes it will be fun if player choose a stupid answer in serious situation.


Apart from the games, I got inspirations from magic videos. Because of Lydia is a magician and the case is around a magic show about mirror, I need to refer to some real magic tricks.



I will use the tricks of magics in these two videos for my story project.


And finally, the last thing I need to say, is I used the famous scene of "The Shining" in one of the end of Carnation's story line.

This is realy interesting.
